Aleeah Muhammed Washington, LAMFT
Therapist
Aleeah Muhammad Washington is a License Associate Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Georgia. Aleeah has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Fort Valley State University and a Masters in Family therapy from Mercer University’s School of Medicine, Marriage and Family.
Aleeah values authenticity, transparency, humor, and zest for life no manner how small it may seem in other people’s eyes. Aleeah works with individuals, couples, children, and their parents or caregivers from all walks of life. Aleeah implements various models and theories in her work to provide a balanced approach to therapy. Some include Human Validation Process theory, Attachment theory, Relational/Systems theory, Cognitive behavioral therapy (individuals and families), Narrative therapy, and Solution-Based Brief techniques.
Aleeah will often say to her clients, “I will ask you how you’re feeling--- emotions aren’t’: I’m good, I’m fine, I’m straight. I want to know how you’re really feeling: sadness, anger, happiness because once things are named one can decide what to do about it.” Aleeah emphasizes that the client is the expert of their own life and usually what they should do is already known to the person. They just need help listening to themselves which is where Aleeah tries to bridge the gap between a person’s relationship with their mind and body.
For fun, Aleeah enjoys spending time at home with her husband and her three cats. Other times, she enjoys times with her family, friends, and creating memories. Aleeah enjoys dancing, yoga, meditation, listening to music (R&B, instrumental, K-pop, Hip Hop) and sewing (which she is a real beginner at).
If you would like to work with Aleeah, be open to having different people in your support system to be involved at some point in your therapy. Aleeah believes no one lives in a vacuum, life is all about relationships.
